Making a video about fragrance is no easy task. Sure, you can list off notes, but who really knows what a bergamot is? To show fragrance in a fun and accessible way, we enlisted members of our in-house brand ambassador program who have no formal background in fragrance and asked them to blindly test our four top scents for Valentine’s Day. It was a fun way to show how fragrances can be perceived by different people. The set build was an absolute dream, as I got to surround myself with all things pink for the holiday.

This episode came to be when we were asked to highlight the top lipstick gift sets for the holiday season, covering off on about 30 products in one video. My copy partner and I knew we needed a hook, so we decided to use a “Truth or Dare” format to liven up the story. With the help of amazing, fun to work with talent, and a set build that’s so glittery it made my giddy, this video is one of my favorites, and even had me seriously contemplating buying $175 of YSL lipsticks.

As part of our effort to build and connect with our community on social, I had wanted to reach out to our audience for some of their skincare concerns. We posted an Instagram story, using the “Questions” sticker, to collect FAQs, then worked with Brenda Hong, the Director of Beauty Education, to answer them. For the supporting stills, I leaned into natural textures for a very vibey self care story.

The holidays are notorious for jam-packed social schedules, going from work straight to events, with barely time for a dollar slice in between. We wanted to show our viewers how they can touch up their beauty looks on the go, for any occasion, so we tapped Casey, one of our Beauty Advisors here at Macy’s to show us how (and yes, she really did her makeup on the train for us).
